Staffing
The service is licensed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and employs 21 full-time paramedics, 3 administrative staff and approximately 20 part-time staff certified in a variety of different levels. The system operates 3 ambulances and 1 supervisor QRV on 24 hour shifts. Patients are transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital and Moore Regional Hospital. Dr. Douglas Nederostek, the Medical Director for the Emergency Department at Scotland Memorial Hospital also serves as the Medical Director for Scotland County EMS.
Facilities
Scotland County Emergency Services building, located at 1403 West Boulevard in Laurinburg, was constructed in July of 1987. It serves as the headquarters for Emergency Medical Services and offices for Emergency Management. The facility is equipped with full sleeping quarters, shower facilities, a kitchen, and back up generator power to allow the continued operation of both EMS and the County Communications tower in a disaster situation. The facility is centrally located to provide easy access to the concentrated populations of Scotland County. It is located adjacent to the new County EOC and Consolidated 911 Communications Center, built and put into operation in 2014.
