Scotland County, NC – The Scotland County Board of Commissioners, at their May meeting approved an incentive package for Edwards Wood Products, Inc. due to the company achieving the required job creation requirements. In order to be eligible for the incentives Edwards Wood Products, Inc. must complete 100% of the job creation as well as $50 million in investments.
Over the last two years Edwards Wood Products and Scotland County have been implementing incentives given to Edwards by the State of North Carolina. Now that Edwards has met the job creation threshold they are eligible for incentives from Scotland County. These incentives will be in the form of tax grants from the County once the company has fulfilled its job creation, investment targets as well as paying its property taxes.
Within the last two years Edwards Wood Products has created 31 new full-time jobs in Scotland County. They have also invested in the community by adding on to their existing facility in Laurinburg.
Edwards Wood Products, Inc. was founded in 1969 in Marshville, NC by Carroll Edwards. Today, the group of six companies is owned and led by his son, Jeff Edwards. The group is the largest producers of wood pallets, high grade lumber, wood chips, and by-products in the Southeastern United States. Current locations include Marshville, Peachland, Laurinburg, and Liberty in North Carolina and Manning, South Carolina.
