Scotland County Emergency Medical Service is a countywide paramedic level EMS organization, founded in 1974, and operating from one location within the county. It is funded by general tax revenues and by fees charged to users. The service is licensed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services and employs some forty-one (41) paramedics and emergency medical technicians running six (6) trucks. The ALS program is sponsored by Scotland Memorial Hospital. Douglas Nederostek, MD is the Medical Director.
