RESPONSIBILITIES: The
primary purpose of this position is
to provide preventive services and
in-home aide services to those
adults who are in need of such
services. Preventive services are
provided to strengthen the family as
a unit; prevent family disruptions
by enhancing problem-solving
abilities; assisting in the
development of appropriate stress
coping mechanisms, and enhancing
stability and the general well being
of the family as a unit. In-home
aide services as a whole strive to
improve the lives of elderly and
disabled adults. Paraprofessional
services are designed to assist
these individuals with essential
home management, personal care
tasks, or supervision so that they
can continue to remain and function
satisfactorily in their own homes as
long as possible. In-Home Services
duties fall into these main
categories: Assessment of a need for
services, Case management and
monitoring the continuing need for
services. The position works closely
with the agency, which provides the
direct service to eligible clients,
and Home Health Agencies. This
position will also backup intake as
needed and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s
degree in social work from an
accredited school of social work;
Bachelor’s degree in a human
services field from an accredited
college or university and one year
directly related experience;
Bachelor’s degree from accredited
college or university and two years
directly related experience.
Directly related experience is
defined as human services experience
in the areas of case management,
assessment and referral, supportive
counseling, intervention,
psycho-social therapy and treatment
planning.
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS: Ability
to implement effective face-to-face
interviews and counsel as
necessary. This position requires
very good assessment and evaluation
skills for determining the needs of
each client. Once the need is
identified, worker works closely
with the client to develop the most
appropriate plan. Worker must have
a highly developed ability for
gathering data, assessing it and
drawing conclusions. Must be a
motivator and educator to assist
clients in solving problems and
achieving their goals.
Participation in unit staffing and
working effectively with all members
of the unit and agency is extremely
important. This position requires
the preparation of case summaries
and maintenance of accurate and
up-to-date case records. This
worker is responsible for serving as
community liaison to help develop
and maintain community based
resources to help meet client
needs. The position requires an
energetic person with planning and
organizing ability. The job demands
a considerable amount of patience
and attention to detail.
Long term care or regulatory
experience in human services, or
experience in working with elderly
and disabled individuals preferred.

automobile for in and out of county
travel. . Bilingual preferred.

RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT –
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
SCOTLAND COUNTY
is seeking applicants for the
position of Economic Development
Director to perform promotional and
consultative work in developing and
implementing an economic development
program for the County. Employee is
responsible for consulting with
local officials; community leaders;
along with retail and industry
executives for the purpose of
promoting economic growth through
expansion and retention of existing
industrial and commercial bases, and
attraction of new business into the
County. Duties include development
of data, statistics, and
publications, which portray the
economic potential of the county;
identification of prospective
industries; and maintaining proper
records, reports, and public
information for the program;
development of grants and funding
sources in conjunction with local
government efforts to support
infrastructure improvements. Work
requires considerable planning and
timely execution of work. Decisions
must be made quickly with accuracy
when dealing with the economic
management teams. Employee must
exercise independent judgment and
simultaneously must consider
financial, socio-economic, legal,
and regulatory variables as they
affect the County. Reports to the
County Manager. Requires a
Bachelor’s degree in Business,
Planning, Economics, Public
Administration, or a related field
with at least five years of
professional experience in
industrial or economic development;
or an equivalent combination of
training and experience.
Designation as a Certified Economic
Developer desired; Master’s Degree
preferred. Must possess a valid NC
Driver’s License. Salary and
benefits package commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
