HOW TO REGISTER AND VOTE AT A = ONE-STOP=20 ABSENTEE SITE

A = North=20 Carolina resident who is qualified to vote but = who=20 misses the 25-day=20 deadline for voter registration may register and vote at a One-Stop = Site during=20 the One-Stop Absentee Voting period. The One-Stop Voting period extends = from 19=20 to 3 days before Election Day.

The process is sometimes = referred to=20 as =93Same-Day Registration,=94 but it is important to recognize that it = not=20 permitted on Election Day itself.

To use this process, a = citizen must=20 (1) go to a One-Stop Voting Site in the county of residence during the = One Stop=20 Absentee Voting period, (2) fill out a voter registration = application, and (3) = provide proof=20 of residency by showing the elections official an appropriate form of=20 identification with the citizen=92s current name and current = address. The new registrant may vote = ONLY at a=20 One-Stop Absentee Voting Site in the county of registration during = One-Stop=20 Absentee Voting period and not on Election Day.

Acceptable forms of = identification=20 include:

=B7 =20 A utility bill with name and current=20 address

=D8 =20 A telephone or mobile phone = bill

=D8 =20 An electric or gas bill

=D8 =20 A cable television bill

=D8 =20 A water or sewage bill

=B7 =20 A document with name and current address from = a=20 local, state, or=20 U.S. = government=20 agency, such as:

=D8 =20 A passport

=D8 =20 A government-issued photo ID

=D8 =20 U.S.=20 military ID

=D8 =20 A license to hunt, fish, = own=20 a gun, etc.

=D8 =20 A property or other tax bill

=D8 =20 Automotive or vehicle = registration

=D8 =20 Certified documentation of=20 naturalization

=D8 =20 A public housing or Social Service Agency=20 document

=D8 =20 A check, invoice, or letter from a government = agency

=D8 =20 A birth certificate

=B7 =20 A student photo ID along with a document from = the=20 school showing the student=92s name and current address

=B7 =20 A paycheck or paycheck stub from an employer = or a W-2=20 statement

=B7 =20 A bank statement or bank-issued credit card=20 statement

If=20 you = cannot=20 supply an acceptable form of identification for Proof-of-Residence, your = registration application cannot be fully processed=20 until the required information is provided.=20

Registered voters may also update their address and = change vital=20 information in an existing registration record at the One Stop Site, but = they=20 are not allowed to change their party affiliation during the One Stop = Voting=20 period that precedes a partisan primary.=20
