About the Laboratory

The Scotland County Health & Human Services Laboratory is a nationally certified facility under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). It operates according to guidelines established by the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health, Division of Public Health, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Our laboratory provides essential support for disease surveillance, diagnosis, monitoring, and the enforcement of environmental health programs.

Functioning as a clinical and technical information center, the laboratory serves departments and programs within Scotland County Health and Human Services. Our staff performs a wide range of "in-house" tests to provide immediate results. Additionally, the laboratory manages "send-out" tests for specialized requirements through various in-state and out-of-state facilities. Both in-house and send-out results are critical for providing clients with accurate medical information and advice.

The laboratory is also a member of the Health Alert Network (HAN), ensuring rapid communication of alerts to and from the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health.

Staff

The laboratory is staffed by three Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT), two of whom are individually certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Our Medical Laboratory Technicians are trained on all laboratory equipment and undergo regular proficiency evaluations. To ensure the highest standards of technical accuracy, each MLT completes continuing education to maintain and improve their expertise.

Self-Pay payment is required at the time of service.  Medicaid and insurance are not accepted for these services.

Lab fee for Blood Draw $11.00 

Lab fee for Non-Blood Tests $11.00

Please be advised that the lab tests listed below can be requested without a provider's order. Additionally, we offer a variety of other tests that can be performed with an order from a provider.
