Disability Compensation

Disability compensation is a monetary benefit paid to veterans who are disabled by injury or disease incurred or aggravated during active military service. Compensation may be paid for certain diseases presumed to have begun during service, specified diseases presumed to be the result of certain incidents, or manifest within one year of discharge. Also, compensation may be paid for a new condition which is caused by an established service-connected condition.

The service of the veteran must have been terminated through separation or discharged under conditions that were other than dishonorable.
